OUR MISSION
Creating opportunities for young people and their families to learn about and advocate for the ethical treatment of animals, and to promote compassion in everyday interactions.
Helping young people realize the important role they can play in improving the lives of pets and people in their own community by promoting force-free, fear-free interactions.
All of our programs underline the importance of understanding the different emotions and feelings dogs and other animals can experience, how these emotions and feelings can be conveyed through body language, and how we can use this information to fruitfully communicate with our animals.
There are so many reasons why we need to be able to effectively communicate with the animals in our lives – but mostly to help us live happily and safely together.
We also believe it is critical to public safety that we know how to use this information to ensure safe interactions in order to prevent fear-related and other aggressive responses that could lead to injuries.

Rooted in the Natural Bond and Emotional Connection
Kids-4-K9's humane education philosophy is rooted in the idea that the natural bond between children and animals—especially dogs— can have a transformative effect on both. Dogs invite social interaction and seem to have an instinctive need to cooperate with humans. The unique ways in which dogs communicate with people is one of the reasons we are so attracted to them. Purposeful interactions with animals is a critical part of on-location programming. Mutually beneficial activities help solidify “book-learning” and provide a way to share and explore the issues impacting animal welfare (such as overpopulation, abuse, and neglect), which can lead to the development of individual social responsibility and ultimately cultivate youth leaders in promoting these civic values.
